Hi guys,

Just wondering, does anybody know if exult supports the Japanese language version of U7? I wanted to check before I went and bought it.

I would like you to buy it anyway and report back about it...
We didn't know about a japanaese version. Maybe it's just a japanese box with english version...
Anyway it will make a good collectible

Here's the link. Basically its the collection of Ultimas 1-7 that were released to commemorate the release of U9. All 7 games are in Japanese it seems. It's a little pricy at 9800 yen, but would be an excellent addition to my immersion environment.

ARGH! I've just re-read that link. Seems that its 1-8, sorry, not 1-7, and 1-6 + 8 are fully in Japanese, while U7 is the only one that is in English. How about that for depressing....

So for your immersion, translate U7 yourself!

I wonder why they skip seven but translate Pagan? And how good is that translation. Wasn't one of the early french translations of Ultima famously bad?

Yeah, I was tossing that idea around actually. I could use Lang-8 to get my translations checked for accuracy, and just do a small bit of dialogue every day for writing/translating practice. Hmmm.

Lets say I do this... my question is...

Is there an easy way to access the dialogue in the game, so that I can replace the English with the Japanese? If I was to undertake something like this, I would really like people to be able to enable this easily.

Another question I have thought of....

Font. The standard font used in U7 is not going to be of much help. Is there a way around this with exult?
