Hey, I bought Ultima vii from gog, played it a little and then heard about exult. Downloaded the 1.5 snapshot, since it was the only one for windows and I have windows 8. The problem is that I can't talk to anyone but Iolo. At the beginning the mayor walks to me but then just stands there, and when I get control, double clicking only starts a conversation with Iolo. Double clicking on the mayor, the peasant, a guard or anyone else doesn't do anything.

So... any ideas?

Thankfully, someone checked for me whether we have an issue with Windows 8 but all was working great for him. So, I have no idea what is wrong there.

Turning off the scripted scenen doesn't help. Tried double clicking lamps, doors and books, they all work normally.

I installed everything to my old xp computer and it works fine, so I will play with that instead. Still a strange issue, if you want more info just ask. I also tried the part two, at the beginning I can talk talk with party members just fine, then the guy asking the questions initiates a conversation with me, but after that double clicking on people does nothing.

I found the problem. When starting to play on my xp machine I changed some settings from setup and the problem hit again. Going through the settings I isolated the problem to the "charmed difficulty" setting. Setting it to hard causes the problem, with it set on normal everything works as it should.

Something wrong on your end. Where are the two games installed on your PC?
Upgrade all drivers, especially graphics and mouse drivers to the latest from the manufacturer (not MS).

Edit: I found the regression in our code and filed a bug report for now...

Malignant Manor, just now fixed that bug. Playing with charmed set to hard will work again. Thanks for reporting this!
